Cyber Bullying

This was my speech when I was in 10th grade.

ALL WORDS ARE MINE. BUT I GET SOME FACTS AND IDEAS THROUGH RESEARCHING ABOUT THE TOPIC.

 

Have you ever experienced being bullied?
Have you ever been called ugly?
Have you ever been called fat?
Have you ever been called short, ungifted height creature?
Hearing these kinds of words don’t feel good right? It’s not the best feeling, isn’t it?
It makes you feel insecure towards others. It makes you feel humiliated in front of others. It will give you a lot of anxiety to move freely because you know that there’s a lot of judgemental eyes watching on you.

Those words have the power to destroy lives. Mentally and Physically.
Bullying is an unnecessary behavior for humans.
– Intimidations
– Aggressive behavior
– Threats
– Physical Harm
– Teasing
We have different kinds of bullying. Here are some:
Physical bullying, it is the bullying that hurt you physically by kicking, punching, pinching and more.
Second is Verbal bullying. It is the bullying that hurt you emotionally by saying rude things to you, and an example of it is name calling.
The third is sexual bullying, to be done by unwanted touching to your body.
My last example is cyberbullying. It is the bullying to be done by social networking sites. Like facebooks, twitter or even sending text messages from anonymous senders and saying unnecessary things.

We will be focusing on the cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying is when a person is harassed, threatened, embarrassed, or willfully targeted by someone else through the use of electronic technology. Cyberbullying is the most common, and famous method of bullying in this generation.
An example of cyberbullying is sending you a message that has threats, or posting bad accusations towards you that are not real.

But, what do you think are the causes and effects of cyberbullying?
Causes:
– Revenge of other people
– Entertainment purposes
– To boost their ego
– To get a laugh from their peers
– Remind people of their social standing
– Seeking for people’s attention
Here are the possible things or causes why bullies are bullying. Some are seeking revenge, and some are for fun and boasting their big or higher positions to lower ones.
So let’s enumerate now the possible effects of being bullied.
– It can give people a bad reputation
– It causes children to have low self-esteem
– It causes children to become depressed if they are constantly picked on by others
– It makes hard for kids to communicate with others
– Sometimes it causes people to commit suicide due to embarrassment
So those are the effects of bullying. There’s a lot of things that may happen to people that are being bullied. Sometimes, we are not aware of our actions that may offend someone, or even in our foul words that affect others a lot. Simple teasing is considered as bullying. There’s a time for a joke, and there’s a time for serious things. A joke is when both parties are happy. Bullying makes people happy.

Maybe there’s an advantage o being bullied. Sometimes bullying can make a person.
Why? How? Simply because they want to stand by themselves and fight those bullies. In the process of fighting for themselves, they are suddenly growing and building their strength of becoming a whole person, and a better human being. That is because of bullying.

But a lot of times, bullying can break a person.

Why? How? Weak ones can’t handle things like this. Due to a lot of depressions and embarrassments, they are ending on giving up in this world. Well actually, if you are really not in your right mind, the best way to escape this cruel world is to disappear. Being bullied can cause or push a person to suicidal attempts. And it is slowly breaking a person.

Look, just be who you are. So what if they bully you? Just pray for them. Smile in front of them. That is the best way to tease them back. If you are sad, tell your friends that you are sad. If you need help, ask for help. If you need someone to be trusted, just talk to that guy above all us. Trust me, he’ll never fail you. Learn how to share your thoughts to at least release that heavy load inside of you and can get away from depressions. You don’t live to impress anyone. You don’t live just to die. Live your life to the fullest. And be the best you can.

As a conclusion, bullying is a simple word that can change our lives. Words and actions can make other’s life miserable, and the worst case scenario is it can kill a person. I wished bullying have never existed, but unfortunately, it did exist. In short, change is now in our hands. We can stop bullying by starting to ourselves. Once we started it and learn about it, let’s now spread the word of “No To Bullying”. Trust that guy above all us that there are no impossible things in this world as long as you’re still breathing and living.

We are created perfectly fair. Show them that they can’t boast everything that is not worth boasting for.

Bullying is not worth doing. Try to do something that makes sense to every people that surround you. Life is hard. Trials and problems are with us. The last thing we can do is to make our lives sensible. Act with sense, speak with sense and live with sense.

Title: “The Giver”: The Face of The Society

Introduction

The face of society is basically us. What does society’s role in our lives? Do people build a society or do society build people? Do we really have the freedom that we all know or are we being dictated by society and lose our own freedom of choice?

Freedom is a huge issue for a lot of people for a long time. Do we really have that freedom? Why do you create a Facebook account? Is it because you wanted it or is it because that’s what society has been doing to live. It has become a demand and not a choice. The life that we should be enjoying has become a game of survival. We must survive for us to be able to live.
Sometimes we unconsciously allow the society to control us. We never had a clue that we are being controlled because those things have become normal to us without even realizing it. “People are weak, people are selfish.” Are we really this worst? We don’t use our freedom in the right way. When freedom has been given to us, we had this greed and desire for our own good. When we are focused on that self-desired, we never consider the sufferings or pain of others. We just aim things for our own sake.

“The Giver” enlighten us by the idea of what and how our society works these days. The advantage and disadvantages of society to us and to the community that we are currently living in. It explains to us what we should do as a part of society. It is a movie that shows the true face of society.

 

“The Giver” in Real Life

The purpose of the movie is for us people to realize how our society works. As I said in the introduction, ” Do people build the society or do society build people?”.
From my perspective, my answer is the society dictates people.
Well, he has freedom. But because of the situation of survival, people think that belonging to a certain group of people makes you survive in this cruel world.
I want to give an example of previous topics in class.
First is Same-sex marriage. I do not agree with same-sex marriage. Biblically speaking, it is already given that it is forbidden. Men are for women and women are for men. God loves us but he can not tolerate sin. I believe that not having enough knowledge about God is one of the reasons why people don’t understand and accept the fact that same-sex marriage is not being allowed by the church. And I think it is part of the influence of society. You see others have the guts to be like that and that basically encourages you to do the same thing.
And to add details about social media as demand and not a choice, well, let’s be honest.
Schools are teaching students not to be fond of social media. But these days younger generation’s projects depends on the likes on Facebook, views on youtube and assignments are being passed through the internet. I understand that it also teaches youth or student to use social media in a better way. But I hope, they don’t do it to students who are too young. Elementary students must focus on textbooks.

People have freedom of choice. But if society already dictates you, it is already a matter of survival not to be eaten by the process of society. You may try the routine to be able to catch up but never let your self to be drowned in those kinds of stuff and do not let your freedom be taken away from you.

 

“The Giver”: When Reality Hits You

As I watched the movie, there are some lines that hit me really hard. And there are some scenes that affect me so much.

” I always felt that I saw things differently. I see things that other people didn’t. I never said anything. I didn’t want to be different. Who would?”

I can compare this line to a lot of people these days. It’s hard to be left out. Nobody wants to be different from anyone else. People these days want to be into anything that is in the same line.

“Faith is sometimes they compared to air. Something that you can’t see but can be felt”

For me, people never had enough knowledge about God. And that is one of the reasons why we never had proper communication. We lack patience and manners that we must have. People pray if hardships are there but never praise God when they have enough.

” But he’s a family”

We all know that other than God, family always comes first. We must learn to appreciate our own family before building another family outside our home. Having a good and nice family makes you into a decent and good person. A family includes the first people that you will encounter. Family makes us feel alive.

“Father, do you love me?”

Love never fails. It is always the basic foundation of anything. If love is the one that is ruling the country, we are going to be really peaceful and disciplined. Love is the cure for all the hatreds and pain that we feel. Love can conquer all.

Those are the lines that have a relationship on the issue in our society. Those are the lines that may lighten up our mind to look for the answers to the questions of our hearts. We must take our next steps for the growth of our society.

 

Theories on “The Giver”

The movie consists of various theories.

First is the Social Phenomenology. Social phenomenology explains that “society is created by human”. In the giver, they created their own community with their own rules. They closed their doors to the other side of the world. It seems that the community has been controlled to what to be done. There are rules that have been made to reached equality. Equality is the main goal of the society to the community.

Second is the Game theory. Game theory explains that human interaction had the characteristics of a game. In the giver, their graduation day, they already have assigned a task with them. They will be assigned to how they have been observed. There are higher-ups in the community which they call the ‘elders’.

The third is the Rational choice theory. The rational choice theory explains the decision making of a person based on his skills and desire. In the giver, It doesn’t seem that they got the job based on what they want. It has been given to them. That’s it. No questions and interviews. Once they give you the job, you must train for it.

Fourth is Structural Strain Theory. This explains that when people have the freedom, people learned how to commit crimes. This where greed and desires enter through human’s behavior. It is a matter of survival for them. It is where they feel emotions and have the will to hurt other people. In the giver, that is where the elders are preventing their community to experience. They remove those emotions to feel equality.

Lastly, is the Social Learning Theory. It is where the behavior of the people are being governed. It is the same as what I am saying earlier. They have rules. They control people but people within their borders don’t have any idea about that because it has become normal for them. It is where we are being controlled by the people who have a great influence. They just give us orders on what we have to do but we are not aware that we are obeying them without realizing it.

 

Conclusion

I, therefore, conclude that society is part of life. It is already our choice whether to be on the line or stay as a normal citizen of our country. Equality is great but equality should be applied naturally. Controlling people never lead us to a great result. People will always find a way to fight for their rights. We must not close our doors to the other side of the world for us to survive and not be drowned by the society. We just have to learn how to be disciplined.
Time will come that society may become worst. Our generation’s job is to help others and ourselves to be able to reach the top without having the issue about our society. We’ll never know where life will lead us. Equality, freedom, discipline, faith, patience, and love must be combined together for us to build a better society.
Society will continue to dictate us. As society continues to dictate us, we must continue to strive for the idea of empowerment for ourselves. We should learn not to allow others to control us continuously. Learn how to stand on our own without depending on others. You have been created alone. We have been created uniquely as an individual. Building a great society we must speak with sense, act with sense and live with sense.

Happiness

If you ask people what is happiness, there will be a variety of answers. Each of them will have their own meaning of happiness.

Happiness is a state of being Happy.
Being happy is an emotion.
Emotions are being felt.

In this world, a lot has changed. Situations are getting worse.
People are tempted to have a desire for a thing that will give them a short span of happiness.
People tend to hurt one another without knowing it.
Sometimes selfish people are taking away the happiness of others purposely.
For example, In society, we have this habit of judging. Wrong judgments will hurt a person. And that’s how society can affect one person.

As I was saying about the meaning of happiness, it is something that can’t be explained. There are things that are simple for you but for others, it is their happiness. And there are things that are simple for others but it is happiness for you.

Happiness is a pleasure of enjoyment and satisfaction.
There are people who cry because of happiness because sometimes, people cry because no words can express their feelings.

We should live with contentment but we must aim for our happiness.
We have to start learning how to value life more than money and power.
Because, these days, these two are what matter the most. If you have money, you have the power to rule. And that doesn’t make people happy. It is suffering for every person.

Still, there are simple things that we can do to help to spread happiness. We must definitely start with ourselves.
